Four-piece metal act ‘Sister’ from Stockholm, Sweden have worked their fingers-to-the-bone in recent years – earning themselves the reputation of being one of the best live acts around.
They aim to provide raw, heavy, hypnotic and energy-driven punk / metal to their feverish audiences.
In the autumn of 2013 Sister recorded their follow up to HATED together with Martin Sweet and Linus Nirbrant. The release date is set for January 21st, 2014 and the single “Sick” is already out – available now on iTunes.
The Grand Inquisitor at METAL AS RELIGION had a chance to chat to Cari (drums) about the band’s experiences at last year’s Hard Rock Hell and about working on the new album ‘Disguised Vultures’ : –
FOLK ARE SAYING THAT YOU WERE THE BEST BAND AT HRH – HOW WAS THE HARD ROCK HELL FOR YOU?
Hard Rock Hell Festival 2013 was amazing. The place was packed and I think we did our job. It was cool seeing so many new faces in a place where we’ve never played before. We had a good time.
WE LOVED THE VIDEO ‘SICK’ – BUT WHAT REALLY SICKENS AND CORRUPTS YOU AT THE MOMENT?
WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH JIMMU JOHANSSON? IS HE AS DARK AND SINISTER AS HE SEEMS?
Even darker. Our work together is always good, we both want to keep it real, raw and “down to earth” in terms of production.. Jimmu has a good eye for the simple and clean in his work which we like. We are old friends of Jimmu so there’s a lot of fun going on when we work together.
WE CANNOT WAIT FOR THE ALBUM – BUT WHO ARE THE ‘DISGUISED VULTURES’ IN YOUR WORLD?
It can be read in many ways but to me, we are the Disguised Vultures. In the life we’re living right now you have to fit in in so many different ways and sometimes “disguise” yourself to be able to do that. But underneath all that you still have to know who you are inside.
DO YOU THINK THAT THE SISTER SOUND IS RAWER THAN EVER BEFORE?
Yes, cause that’s how we feel.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH MARTIN SWEET AND LINUS NIRBRANT?
It was great. We shared the same idea from the beginning to the end. To keep it real, raw and to not think twice.
HOW WAS YOUR MAMMOTH 24 CITY 26 DAY TOUR?
Great… We just kind of go in to some kind of tour mode. You eat it, breath it, live it and drinking it 24 hours a day where you don’t think about anything else. We’re having a great time but still focused, knowing that we have a job to do.
HOW DID YOU LIKE THE UK CROWDS?
UK has been great and we can’t wait to come back again for some headline dates. With two UK tours and two albums out, next time will be even better.
HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE THE RELEASE OF ‘DISGUISED VULTURES’?
Not decided yet. We’re planning new tours and that keeps us pretty busy at the moment.
THANK YOU, SISTER
